Perhaps JJ Abrams set the bar a little too high when Star Wars: A Force Awakens was released in December: now the cast and crew of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story are said to be re-shooting parts of the spin-off film in July because the movie is not good enough.

New York showbiz website Page Six reports that Rogue One is “in crisis”, with executives at Disney unsatisfied with the first cut by British director Gareth Edwards.

Edwards, who has won cult acclaim for his direction of indie hit Monsters, has traditionally kept his distance from studios when making films, even on 2014 blockbuster Godzilla. However, Page Six report that on Rogue One, “Disney won’t take a back seat, and is demanding changes, as the movie isn’t testing well.”

The cast and crew will embark upon four weeks of re-shoots in July.

A source from Disney told Page Six: “The filmmaking team and the studio always anticipated additional shooting and second unit work to make the film the absolute best it can be, and the actors were aware there would be additional shooting.

“Coming off The Force Awakens, there’s an incredibly high bar for this movie and we have a responsibility to the franchise and to the fans to deliver the best possible movie we can.”

Rogue One is thought to fill in the gap between Episodes III and IV, and will see resistance fighters attempt to steal plans for the Death Star before the Emperor can use it to enforce his cruel regime.

The film’s cast list boasts Oscar-winner Felicity Jones, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, Diego Luna and Ben Mendelsohn. It has been speculated that Rogue One will also feature Darth Vader and a young Han Solo – who will be played by Alden Ehrenreich in Disney’s second Star Wars spin-off film – in a cameo role.

A representative for Disney said that they “don’t usually comment on any production rumours relating to Star Wars.”

Nicholas Hoult and Felicity Jones run from danger in a new poster for their upcoming film Collide.

In the flick, Nicholas plays Casey Stein, who must go back to his old ways as a miscreant in order to make enough money for his girlfriend Juliette, played by Felicity, to get a kidney transplant.

Casey suddenly finds himself on the run from a ruthless gang headed by a mob boss and must find a way to protect Juliette before she is captured and held as ransom.

Collide is set to hit theaters on August 19.

Now the Force Awakens haze has ascended, all eyes are on the next Star Wars property to be released – prequel Rogue One.

A trailer surfaced last month providing a glimpse of many actors confirmed to be in the film – Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn – but, save for Jones’ rebel protagonist Jyn Erso, the brief clip gave no details on any of the film’s characters.

However, JediBibliothek has somehow unearthed the film’s visual guide (we should note that it’s a work in progress) which has thrown forth some exciting information surrounding these characters and their allegiances.

Once again, ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ is featured in the next issue of ‘Total Film” magazine, in which there are details on the film. I have added three high-quality scans in the gallery:

Shot way back in 2014, there has been little heard since about “Collide” — formerly known as “Autobahn.” The latest from director Eran Creevy (“Welcome To The Punch”) is a full-throttle action flick starring Nicholas Hoult and Felicity Jones, while Ben Kingsley and Anthony Hopkins bring some vintage flavor to the proceedings, and a new international trailer gives another little peek at what’s coming.

The premise for this one is fairly simple, with a young man forced to go on the run from the job after a heist goes wrong. He hits the autobahn with some flashy vehicles to make his escape, while enlisting the help of his drug smuggling former employer to protect his girlfriend from the mob.

Yesterday, Felicity was seen shopping at a Manhattan market in SoHo, New York. I have added 19 high-quality photos in the gallery:

Last week when the first trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story landed, fans did what you would expect them to do. They tore it apart and analyzed it to a psychotic degree. It’s certainly what we did. The other thing that fans did was try to figure out if this second of the new Star Wars movies would have any bearing on the first one. The primary question was whether the new character of Jyn Erso might be the long lost mother of Daisy Ridley’s character Rey from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Ridley herself has now spoken on the topic and while she hasn’t made an outright denial, she’s certainly implying that it is not the case.

During the MTV Movie Awards, the cable channel asked Daisy Ridley specifically about all of the online chatter going on that was tentatively connecting the two lead Star Wars women. Ridley told MTV that we probably shouldn’t get all that excited.

“I’m not being funny you guys, but just because she’s white and got brown hair… it doesn’t mean she’s my mom.”

Daisy Ridley likely hits the nail on the head as we have so little information about Jyn Erso at this point as the only reasons to really make the connection are circumstantial. They’re both white and they’re both brunettes, and while that does help the two characters look similar, which could imply a genetic connection, it’s hardly that conclusive. As we pointed out in our analysis of the idea, the chronology as we currently understand it doesn’t really indicate that the timing is right. While we couldn’t use existing evidence to say definitively that Jyn isn’t Rey’s mother, it’s not looking likely.

And to be sure, Daisy Ridley is in a position to know what she’s talking about. She can speak with authority about who is or is not Rey’s mother because the actress does know what the answer is. Well, probably. While it’s possible that Ridley is using some careful language to imply Jyn Erso isn’t the answer, without actually denying it because it’s actually true, we’re inclined to continue our search for the answer elsewhere as Jyn probably isn’t it.

It’s been about two years since the Juan Antonio Bayona-directed A Monster Calls began its journey, with Focus Features giving it an October 14, 2016 date and setting Felicity Jones to star and Liam Neeson to voice the Monster. Since then, Jones has been nominated for an Oscar (The Theory Of Everything) and landed a starring role in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Here’s the latest look at the fantasy pic based on the award-winning children’s fantasy novel by Patrick Ness, about a young boy (Lewis MacDougall) who attempts to deal with his the illness of his mother (Jones) and school bullies by escaping into a fantastical world of monsters and fairy tales. Ness wrote the novel based on an original idea by the late Siobhan Dowd, and he adapted the screenplay.

Belen Atienza (Bayona’s The Impossible and The Orphanage) produced the movie which actually has the feel of of another Atienza-produced film: Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth. Executive producers are River Road’s Bill Pohlad and Mitch Horwits, Participant Media’s Jeff Skoll and Jonathan King, and Lionsgate Motion Picture Group co-chairman Patrick Wachsberger.
