EXCLUSIVE: IRA thriller Borderland is set to feature an exciting cast of John Boyega (Star Wars), Jack Reynor (Midsommar), Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim) and Felicity Jones (The Theory Of Everything).

The film will follow an Irish paramilitary, Michael (Reynor), who witnesses the shooting of his pregnant wife at the hands of an SAS sergeant named Tempest (Boyega) when a border ambush goes wrong. UK sales firm Rocket Science is selling and financing the film, which heralds from director duo the Guard Brothers (The Uninvited). Endeavour Content is co-repping domestic rights.

Chris Coen (Funny Games), Rebecca Brown, Felicity Jones’s Piecrust Productions and Rocket Science will produce the film, with Jones as executive producer. The plan is for film to shoot on location in the UK in early 2021.

The duo said: “Borderland is a vengeance fueled chase movie, fusing some pulse ticking action with a powerful message for our times. We’re thrilled that the script, driven as much by character as it is by plot, has attracted such a first rate cast.”

Producer Chris Coen added: “It’s been a pleasure working with Rocket Science putting the film together and I couldn’t be more excited to get this prodigious project into production later this year. The Guard Brothers make for a terrific team who are assembling a formidable cast and crew.”

EXCLUSIVE: The Theory of Everything won Eddie Redmayne a Best Actor Oscar two years ago and Felicity Jones earned a well-deserved nomination. Now, the two actors are talking about reteaming on The Aeronauts for Amazon Studios.

Deadline hears that they are in talks now on a period action adventure based on true events about two 19th century hot air balloonists that would be directed and produced by Tom Harper (Peaky Blinders, War & Peace). Jones would play balloon pilot Amelia Wren and Redmayne would be scientist James Glaisher. In 1862, they embarked on an extraordinary journey to discover the secrets of the heavens. In the process, they fly higher in an open balloon than anyone ever has – either before or since. They make breathtaking discoveries, but as they ascend to the highest reaches of the atmosphere, they are forced into an epic fight for survival.

The project is being produced by Mandeville Films’ Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman, who are coming off the weekend sleeper hit Wonder. The script is by Jack Thorne, who wrote the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, based on a J.K. Rowling story. He’s also adapted Philip Pullman’s fantasy novel trilogy His Dark Materials for BBC One. Thorne also was a writer on Wonder.

The project will shoot in London with a Spring 2018 start.

Felicity Jones is attached to star in an untitled pitch that’s inspired by the classic ballet Swan Lake.

A Bigger Splash helmer Luca Guadagnino is on board to direct with Kristina Lauren Anderson penning the script. Several major studios, including Paramount and Universal, are among the bidders for the property, which went on the market right before the Fourth of the July weekend.

Mandeville Films is producing, and WME is representing the hot film package.

Swan Lake follows Odette, a princess that is turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer’s curse. The new take will not involve any ballet but will instead use the story as the centerpiece for a major studio tentpole.

Jones starred in Star Wars spinoff Rogue One and A Monster Calls this past fall. The actress is repped by WME and Independent Talent Group in the U.K.

Guadagnino’s latest film, Call Me by Your Name, starring Armie Hammer, was a breakout at Sundance and is set to be released by Sony Pictures Classics on Nov. 24. He is also repped by WME.
