Now that legions of fans around the world have seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens multiple times, they are turning their attention to the first Star Wars spinoff, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which is set for release on December 16. Earlier this week, a Fandango poll listed Rogue One: A Star Wars Story as the most anticipated movie to come out in 2016, setting the stage for another massive blockbuster. Today we have a new rumor from Star Wars Time, which claims that Disney is planning to attach the first trailer for Rogue One to theatrical prints of Captain America: Civil War.
While the news has not been confirmed yet by Disney, it certainly would follow a pattern of Disney using other projects to help promote its burgeoning Star Wars universe. Disney released the second trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens during Star Wars Celebration in April, before attaching it to theatrical prints of another Disney-owned project, Avengers: Age of Ultron. Disney also debuted the third trailer during ESPN’s Monday Night Football, another Disney-owned entity.
Rogue One is set between Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, centering on a group of Rebels who hatch a mission to steal the original Death Star plans. The cast includes Felicity Jones, Mads Mikkelsen, Ben Mendelsohn (who is reportedly playing the villain), Alan Tudyk, Diego Luna, Forest Whitaker, Donnie Yen, Riz Ahmed, Jonathan Aris and Wen Jiang, although little is known about their characters. Earlier today, a rumor surfaced that Felicity Jones is playing a Rebel pilot named Lyra Erso, but that has not been confirmed.
What we do know for sure is that Gareth Edwards (Godzilla) is directing from a script by Chris Weitz (Cinderella) and Gary Whitta (After Earth). After Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theaters in December, Star Wars: Episode VIII will hit theaters on May 26, 2017, followed by Star Wars Anthology: Han Solo on May 25, 2018, Star Wars: Episode IX in 2019 and Star Wars Anthology: Boba Fett in 2020. Disney and LucasFilm haven’t confirmed any plans beyond those movies, but a report from November claimed that the studios plan on churning out one new Star Wars movie a year, indefinitely.
What do you think about this rumor that the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story trailer will debut alongside Captain America: Civil War? Even if it is true, it’s certainly possible that the footage will debut online earlier than that, but we don’t know for sure quite yet. Be sure to stay tuned for any official word about the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story trailer.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story comes to theaters December 16th, 2016.
The 32-year-old actress reportedly stars as a character named Lyra Erso in the upcoming ‘Star Wars’ anthology movie.
It’s obvious that Felicity Jones is starring in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”, but her character’s real name is still kept secret. A recent report from a Twitter account named Daisy Ridley Fan revealed a possible name for the lead character played by Jones.
The outlet claimed that the English actress would play Lyra Erso. The source made the conclusion after they learned that stuntwoman Gabriele Fritz was listed on various casting sites as being the double for Erso. Since Fritz possesses a close physical resemblance to Jones, it’s possible that Erso is Jones’ character’s name.
If the rumor is true, fans will get a brand new heroine without a familial connection to the Skywalker or Solo clans. However, there is still a possibility that Erso is just a codename.
Previously, Jones was rumored to play a Rebel Alliance soldier, who embarks on a suicide mission to steal the plans to the first mega-weapon Death Star from the Empire. A seperate report hinted that Bern Collaco would play a stormtrooper, Angus Cook would portray a mechanic and Nabilah Karim would star as a samurai.
“Rogue One” takes place shortly before “Star Wars – Episode IV: A New Hope” and shortly after the events of the animated series “Star Wars Rebels”. Directed by Gareth Edwards, the “Star Wars” anthology movie is slated for a release on December 16 in the United States.

The monster does not come walking often. This time it comes to Connor, and it asks for the one thing Connor cannot bring himself to do. Tell the truth. This is a very touching story about a boy who feels very damaged, guilty and mostly angry. He struggles at school with bullies, and pity looks from everyone, and at home with his mother’s sickness. Will Connor overcome his problems? Will everything be okay? Will Connor be able to speak the truth?
The gallery has just been updated with 1,800 Blu-Ray quality screen captures of Felicity as Jane Hawking from “The Theory of Everything”, which deals with the relationship between the famous physicist Stephen Hawking and his wife. Check it out !
EXCLUSIVE: It’s official. Eran Creevy’s Collide is hitting the Open Road. IM Global and Open Road Films today confirmed what had been expected for some time now, with the distributor acquiring the U.S. rights to the Nicholas Hoult-starrer. Open Road chief exec Tom Ortenberg and IM Global founder and chief Stuart Ford announced the film will open in America on April 1 next year.
The film also stars Felicity Jones (The Theory O Everything), Anthony Hopkins and Ben Kingsley. It was financed by IM Global and China’s DMG Entertainment, with additional financing by Sycamore Pictures. Joel Silver produced via his Silver Pictures banner, along with Ben Pugh and Rory Aitken via 42, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones via Automatik, and Action Concept. The feature shot entirely in Germany with support from DFFF, the German Federal Film Fund, and NRW, the North Rhine-Westphalia funding entity.
In the film, previously known as Autobahn, a young American couple Casey (Hoult) and Juliette (Jones) are plunged into an adrenaline-pumping game of cat and mouse across Germany when they find themselves caught between two ruthless feuding criminals (Hopkins and Kingsley).
The film had originally been set for release by Relativity. Those plans were waylaid following that company’s bankruptcy, allowing IM Global to take it back and do the deal with Open Road instead.
IM Global has several features in the pipelines including Billy Ray’s The Secret In Their Eyes starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, Nicole Kidman and Julia Roberts, which STX releases November 20; Civil War drama The Free State of Jones, again with STX and starring Matthew McConaughey; and Mel Gibson’s Hacksaw Ridge, with Cross Creek, starring Andrew Garfield, Vince Vaughn and Sam Worthington. Lionsgate/Summit is releasing that domestically.
